Hybrid Tea Roses are a 26-agrave variety; which canò give great satisfaction from the cultural point of view. The beauty and fullness of the flowers of these plants can in fact embellish our garden in an extraordinary way but to get the most out of tea hybrids, precise and accurate cultural care is required. Pruning, fertilizing, watering and pesticide treatments are important interventions for the obtaining of magnificent specimens of roses.
The pruning of hybrid tea roses is done at the end of winter before the vegetative restart begins, except for roses that bloom on the branches of the second year for which the pruning must be done only in autumn after the end of flowering. Late winter pruning può be performed in different ways depending on the 26-rsquo; 26-agrave intensity; that we want to give to the cut and depending on whether the roses are ground cover, shrub, bushy or climbing. Long pruning, a very intense type of pruning that is practiced by reducing the size of the roses up to 10-15 centimeters from the ground, è a pruning particularly used for ground cover roses and for small bushy roses. The short pruning, a light cut that involves the removal of a portion of branches with only 2-3 buds, is instead used for roses of più size; important such as shrub roses and sapling roses. Finally, there is the medium pruning which è a middle way between the short cut and the long cut that can't be done; be used.
The fertilization of the tea hybrids must take place mainly towards the end of the winter and in August. The first fertilization, that at the end of winter, è the più important for plant cultivation as it is è the one that provides the fundamental nutrients for the entire first phase of growth of the seedlings. Towards the end of the 26-rsquo; winter therefore we will have to go and spread under the mulch layer of manure or fertilizer of any other kind, organic or chemical. Over time the fertilizer will leaveà its nutrients to the soil, reinvigorating it and ensuring the seedlings all the elements they need. The second fertilization must instead be done in late summer, generally towards the end of August and serveà to replace the nutrients lost during the first part of the growing season. The fertilization of August will beà più light compared to that at the end of winter as the months of activityà vegetative at this point of the season are now few and the days, and therefore also l’ activityà vegetative, have long since begun to shrink.
As in all roses, also in the cultivation of tea hybrids l’ water è an important element. Especially in the hot season, watering is essential for a successful cultivation of these roses. However, care must be taken not to overdo it with watering, as water stagnation can be severe; be very dangerous and harmful to roses. It is therefore always necessary to wait for the soil to dry between one watering and the other before watering the soil again.
Tea hybrids get sick from all the main diseases that affect the health of roses: aphids, powdery mildew, scab and yellowfly. Aphids, powdery mildew and scab are avoidable with preventive interventions and with timely actions carried out at the first signs of infestation.
