Papa Giovanni Paolo II – Pope Jean Paul II- JACsegra

Double, cupped flowers, diameter 12-13 cm, composed of more than 30 white petals, exuding a strong citrus fragrance. Repeat-flowering, it has good disease resistance, and the flowers are rain-resistant. Vigorous, it grows upright to 120-150 cm in height; it has dark green, glossy foliage. Ideal for cutting, it is the rose chosen by the Vatican to commemorate Pope John Paul II who died in April 2005. Some specimens have been planted in the Vatican gardens overlooking St. Peter's Basilica. Selected by Keith W. Zary, it was introduced in 2006 by Jackson and Perkins. In 2011 it won the perfume prize at the rose competition in Portland (USA).
